The Face of War Artist: Salvador Dali's Year: 1940 The face of war shows the horror and terror people suffer during the Spanish Civil War and almost the beginning of the Second World War. The Spanish Civil War affected the Spaniards severely due to their goal to become a Republic, which was crushed and left Spain turning into a repressive fascist dictatorship. The first sense you get a looking at this painting is loneliness, death, and can feel the sadness. The snakes surrounding the face shows that attack on innocent people keep going even after going through a lot. The technique used in the creation of this painting was surrealism.
